Random Thoughts, Musings, Esoterica and Other Nonsense
I have been trying a number of different platforms for my site lately including Posterous, Tumblr, and WordPress. All of these platforms have different pros and cons and I wish I could combine the best features of each into a single tool. I like Posterous a lot but I decided to see if WordPress might serve me better. Turns out it doesn't. So now I am in the process of testing out my revised Tumblr.

Data visualization is becoming a much more important concept and practice area in all facets of our lives. Over the past few months I have shared a number of infographics (you can find them using the search function on this page) that display information in interesting, and more importantly, easy to understand ways.
David McCandless recently delivered the TED Talk above and, for anyone who works with data, works with the display of data, or is just a geek like me, it is worth watching.
Enjoy!

In this country we are very fortunate. A lot of us earn more than the minimum wage, but unfortunately, too many live far below the poverty line. In the United States, the annual minimum wage is $15,080 and many families struggle to get by on a single minimum wage income.
The infographic below illustrates the dramatic differences in labor costs around the world in the context of how long it takes to earn the U.S. minimum wage of $15,080 in different countries.
Can you imagine living on just $15,080 a year? Now think about earning that amount in 15 months or 43 months, or even longer.
[Yes, I know the cost of living differs in every country but you get the point I am making so don't be difficult!]
Count yourself lucky and never forget it. Don't take your next meal, your warm clothes, or the roof over your head for granted.@99GR81
The team at Wiseguy Pictures released this gem yesterday. Imagine the worst possible collision of job interview and poor Facebook judgement.
Fast Company wrote about censoring your FB page a year ago.
